FAQs

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is the process of going into a deeply relaxed state of mind where information can be gathered from the sub-conscious. In this trance state, we can ask questions, explore past lives, visit lives in future timelines, explore Source energy, connect with passed loved ones, speak to a client’s Higher Self and much much more. The part of the brain you access during hypnosis is responsible for intuition, imagination, daydreaming, and holds all memories and emotions.

Will I be completely under someone else’s control?

No. This is a common misconception about Hypnosis. You will be aware of your body and your surroundings and can be easily woken up from your relaxed state. Your inner most morals and beliefs cannot be altered without your consent. You aren’t under ‘mind control’ and cannot be coerced into doing anything that your waking self wouldn’t be ok with. In the Risen Mind approach, you will only be asked questions based upon what you are seeing in your mind’s eye and changes can only be made with your consent.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Most people describe being under hypnosis as being very relaxed and in a dream like state while your consciousness remains awake at the same time. Some others describe it as a nap and feel as though they have been fully asleep, however they are not asleep and have full conversations while they are in this deep trance state. You naturally go into this trance state of mind twice a day; just before you wake up, and right before you fall into sleep. An example of this feeling is when you start to fall asleep and lightly dream with a TV on in your room; you can hear the outside sounds but you are also starting to drift off in your own head. This is different from lucid dreaming, but similar in the sense that you are aware of multiple realms at once. You are able to move your physical body at any time and it is common that the client moves and adjusts throughout the session to release any necessary or stagnant energies from the body.

Who or what is my Higher Self?

Your Higher Self is a collective consciousness energy that has the knowledge of all the lives you have ever lived and any life you have yet to live. Its role is to help guide and protect you on your journey with love and compassion. Your Higher Self is also connected to the Universal Consciousness and has the power to answer questions that go beyond one’s personal existence and experiences.

What are brain wave frequencies?

The brain gives off specific electrical frequencies when it is performing certain tasks or during particular events. This energy movement is recorded in the measurement of Hertz (hz).
DELTA (1hz - 4hz): Deep Sleep & Regeneration for the body
THETA (4hz - 8hz): Hypnosis, Visualization, Meditation, Daydreaming, Imagination, Light Sleep
ALPHA (8hz - 12hz): Awake and relaxed but not thinking about anything
BETA (13hz - 30hz): Alertness, Concentration, Processing information, Active thinking
GAMMA (greater than 30hz): Hightened Awareness, Insight, Hyper Activity, Expanded Consciousness

The state we work with during hypnosis is the THETA state.
